My Story
At the age of 18, I embarked on my professional journey by joining the United States Air Force, where I proudly served for nearly a decade. After completing two deployments, I made the decision to transition out of active duty and pursue new opportunities.
Following my military service, I took a ten-year hiatus to focus on raising my children and advancing my education. During this time, I earned my Associate’s degree in Information Technology with a Concentration in Web Design, Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with a Concentration in Database Management, and completed a Front-End Web Development Certification, preparing myself for an exciting career change once my daughter entered preschool.
I rejoined the workforce as a Visual Information Specialist Intern at the Ralph H. Johnson Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In this role, I created graphics for websites, social media platforms, and print, while applying my web design expertise to produce landing pages, updates, and announcements using their TeamSite CMS. As the world adapted to the challenges of COVID-19, I sought a fully remote position.
I accepted a contract position as a Web Designer at the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM), where I managed websites for their Annual and Spring Conferences using WordPress CMS and CadmiumCD event software. I also provided graphic design support as needed.
Post-COVID, I embraced the new normal and sought stability through a permanent position, ultimately joining Sonepar USA as a Digital Designer. In this role, I manage and maintain websites for 13 Operating Companies, utilizing a homegrown CMS with HTML and CSS. My responsibilities include migrating vendor brand pages to an e-commerce platform via Bloomreach, training personnel on various software tools such as EasyPromos, Simplebooklet, Trumba, Formstack, and Marketo, and contributing to graphic design projects.
My career reflects adaptability, growth, and a commitment to excellence, as I continually leverage my technical expertise and creative skills to deliver impactful solutions.
